Pricing & Payment
Commission pricing is determined by the size, complexity, materials, and time required to complete the artwork. You can find more information on my Commission Page.
A 50% nonrefundable deposit is required to secure your commission and begin the creative process.
The remaining 50% balance is due upon completion of the artwork and must be paid in full before the artwork is shipped, delivered, or picked up.
Any additional requests or significant changes to the original agreement may result in additional charges.
Artistic Freedom
Each commissioned piece is an original work of art created in my personal artistic style.
While I welcome your ideas, preferences, and inspiration, I retain creative discretion over the composition, color choices, techniques, and final artistic interpretation.
Commissioned artwork is not intended to be an exact reproduction of reference photographs, inspiration images, or previously completed paintings.
Natural variations are part of the creative process and contribute to the uniqueness of each original piece.
Revisions & Changes
Minor adjustments may be considered during the creative process when feasible and at my discretion.
Major changes requested after painting has begun, including changes to composition, subject matter, or color palette, may require additional fees.
Once the artwork is completed and approved, further revisions may not be possible.
Completion Timeline
An estimated completion date will be provided before work begins.
Completion times vary depending on the complexity of the artwork, current commission schedule, and drying or curing requirements.
While I make every effort to meet the estimated timeline, completion dates are estimates rather than guarantees.
You will be notified of any significant delays.
Cancellations & Refunds
Because commissioned artwork is created specifically for an individual collector, all commission deposits are nonrefundable once work has begun.
If you cancel your commission after work has started, the deposit will be retained to compensate for time, materials, and work already completed.
Additional payments may be nonrefundable to the extent they cover work already performed or materials specifically purchased for the commission.
Once the completed artwork has been approved and delivered, all sales are final, except where otherwise required by law.
Shipping & Delivery
Shipping and delivery costs are not included in the commission price unless otherwise specified.
All artwork will be carefully packaged to help ensure safe transportation.
Dawn South an Dawn South Art are not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers.
If artwork arrives damaged, please contact me within 48 hours of delivery and provide photographs of the artwork and packaging so that I can assist with resolving the issue.
Copyright & Reproduction Rights
All commissioned artwork remains the intellectual property of Dawn South.
Purchasing an original painting does not transfer copyright or reproduction rights to the collector.
Dawn South retains the right to photograph, display, publish, and reproduce images of commissioned artwork for portfolio, website, social media, marketing, and promotional purposes.
The collector may display the original artwork for personal enjoyment but may not reproduce, sell reproductions of, or commercially distribute images of the artwork without prior written permission.
Acceptance of Completed Artwork
Upon completion, photographs of the finished artwork may be provided for review.
The collector will have an opportunity to discuss any reasonable concerns before final payment and delivery.
Because each piece is created in my individual artistic style, differences between the finished painting and initial inspiration or reference images do not automatically constitute grounds for a refund.
Agreement to Terms
By submitting a commission deposit, the collector acknowledges that they have reviewed and agreed to these Commission Terms & Conditions, provided the terms were made available before payment.
Any modifications to these terms must be agreed upon in writing by both parties.
