I’ve been breaking down my steps for him and today I taught him how to sand and prep this chair for reupholstering.
We have been learning the upholstery part together.

This chair my very first time sewing on padded leather upholstery or sewing a chair seat period, so the stitching isn’t perfect but wow! It turned out way better than I imagined!

This piece is different from all my others paintin

This piece is different from all my others paintings.

The colors I chose, the intensity of hues and the movement within the painting are all very different from my norm.

Here’s why.

Generally, when painting an abstract, the colors I choose are a reflection of the emotions I am feeling.

This painting was inspired by my then, 3 yro son’s favorite scene in his favorite movie, “Mary Poppins”, It’s the part when she takes them into the chalk drawing.
That scene would come on and Taylor would jump up, ready to sing with the penguins and Dick Van Dike.

Taylor was also nonverbal at that time which may be why these memories are so vibrant to me. So happy!

Just remembering the abundant, pure joy that little boy was experiencing, makes my heart so full! 💙
